Born in the United Kingdom, educated in Africa, Hauser’s background as a painter has recently been superceded by his work with clay.
Whilst working in Uganda in 2008, his fondness for old cartoons of tin robots from the 1950’s and 1960’s dovetailed with his admiration for the genius of the anonymous sculptors and carvers of Central and East Africa.
Afrobot seeks to explore the relationships in form and integrity and exist between the finest African masks and 1950/60’s science fiction cartoons.
